This is Heavy

My name is Jennifer and I am overweight.

There. It's said, it's out in the open.

This is an incredibly scary thing. Not only facing the demons (habits) that have wreaked havoc with my body but writing them down?? Yeah, that's fear right there. Because then it's real. There is no hiding. There is no pretending otherwise. And I have to face those things and change them.

Change is scary.
But change can be so good.

So this blog is my story.

My journey and my findings. Because it's not a matter of just being 'skinny' anymore. It's a matter of my health and quite frankly, life or death.

Here's why:
The other day, I was sitting at my desk writing. (It's what I do. I'm a writer.) Quite suddenly and unlike anything I've felt before-- chest pains. Terror inducing "I'm going to die and who will help my family???" chest pains.
Then, they went away. I sat for a minute, really unable to think about anything other than the fact that I just almost died from a heart attack. (I don't know for sure that's what it was. But it was scary.) And I'm only 34 years old.

It was a major wake up moment. Things HAD to change.

So I am changing. And I'm recording it as I go. This is not somebody "fit" trying to improve lifestyles and physiques for someone else; this is MY actual journey and progression.

If you're along for the ride, thanks for being there with me. If you're reading this for inspiration then I hope that's what I can give.
This will be an honest place. I won't sugar coat anything and sometimes I will whine. Such is the journey of breaking habits of the past 14 years and relearning things.
You'll be hearing more about my life now and then. Stories from the past, stories from now. You'll find recipes I've found that are easy for a family but are a good fit into the 'FIT' lifestyle I want to have. You'll find websites of workout routines that I regularly use and work for me. You might even see some that didn't work for me. But I'll post 'em anyway, because they may work for someone who might read this.

Want to share this blog? Please do. As scary as it is for me, maybe there's someone who can read my story and become inspired too. Because people who have made this journey before me are my inspiration. Have a comment? Have a story? Please share. The more the merrier here.

I told ya this was heavy. But I'm hoping to change that. Because my loss will be my gain.
